Encapsulation

Placentophagy is the act of consuming your placenta postpartum. The placenta is a magnificent organ, rich in restorative vitamins, minerals and biogenetic hormones. Including, but not limited to iron, vitamin B6 and of course oxytocin, the hormone of love.

Studies and centuries of use suggest numerous benefits:

  • Reduced risk of postpartum depression
  • Increased breastmilk supply
  • Replenishment of iron stores
  • Assisting recovery post-partum
  • Reducing the length of postpartum bleeding
  • Aids in shrinking the uterus faster
  • Increased general feelings of wellbeing

Traditional Chinese Method: How and Why?

The TCM method of encapsulation is tried and true, and is the most commonly used method of encapsulation.  TCM suggests that the process of labor and birth leaves a lot of open, empty space, which is considered very Yin or cold. Therefore, we can promote healing during the postpartum period by adding Yang energy through the inclusion of warming spices to the encapsulation process. According to TCM principles, raw placenta is also considered to be cold, therefore less suitable for prolonged use during the first few months postpartum on its own.  In order to add warming energy to the capsules I steam the placenta first, with a variety of warming remedies such as lemongrass, ginger and chili peppers, all 100% organic and grown in my own garden. The placenta is then dehydrated and ground into a fine powder and inserted into gelatin capsules.  The result is an energetically balanced placenta remedy that is warming, tonifying and nourishing.

Burial

Throughout the world, there are many traditions honoring the placenta, or tree of life. In other cultures it is hung from a tree, floated down river, buried by the door or under a special tree or plant.  The act of burying the placenta and then planting something over it, its a link to the past, the present and the future. It is a way nourish another life and return these remains to Mother Earth.

Packed at birth by your healthcare provider, your placenta is picked up and stored in a frozen state until the ceremony. The ceremony can be as intimate as one, or as celebratory as a large gathering. Tree Burial includes: Biodegradable, constarch container. Pick up at birthplace within 24 hours of birth. Turnkey site preparation, burial, and ceremony. Copper Tree Tag featuring your childs name and birth date.

As an experienced Master Gardener, I will assist you in selecting the perfect specimen tree for your chosen site in our Zone 7 climate.

24-Hour Turnaround Guaranteed

What makes me different from other encapsulators?

This answer is simple: 24 hour guaranteed turnaround time

The postpartum woman should receive access to the benefits of the placental hormones as soon as possible. These hormones fight stress, stimulate the immune system, stimulate iron production, lessen bleeding, and support mammary function and milk production.

I began to offer this service after I realized that my couples were not getting their encapsulated placenta for 2-4 days after their birth. Immediate consumption of the placenta is of even greater importance if the laboring woman has lost significant amount of blood at the time of birth. Ultimately, the new Mother should begin consuming her placenta as quickly as possible after birth and I am committed to a 24-hour turn around time. Many couples have received their pills even sooner.
